Individual Therapy
Our clinicians draw from a diverse toolkit of science-based modalities to treat a variety of common mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, OCD, phobias, PTSD, and life transitions. We also offer specialized services to support individuals living with pain and other chronic health conditions that impact quality of life. Rather than spending years analyzing the past, we focus on what you are experiencing right now and provide tools you can use immediately to live more fully.

What to Expect at
Your First Appointment
We prioritize your comfort and always move at your own pace. Here is how we get started:
-
Preparation: Prior to your visit, you will complete a few brief questionnaires on your patient portal to help us assess your symptoms and track your progress.
-
The Intake: Your clinician will discuss your goals, what brings you to therapy, and your life background. Your safety is our priority, so we will not ask you to dive into difficult trauma details in this initial session.
-
The Plan: By the end of your first session, you and your clinician will collaboratively agree on recommended next steps. If you choose to move forward, we typically schedule follow-ups within 1–2 weeks.
-
Average Timelines: While everyone's healing journey is unique, our clients average meaningful improvement within 4–8 sessions for pain/health-focused concerns, 8–12 sessions for anxiety or depression, and 12–18 sessions for significant post-traumatic stress symptoms.
Chronic Pain Therapy
& Behavioral Pain Management
If you live with chronic pain, you may have been through the medical wringer and left wondering: "Is this all in my head?"
At Rezenity Health, our answer is simple: No, your pain is real. However, just talking about your pain without learning tools to manage it is unlikely to help. Our behavioral pain management program blends pain neuroscience education with active coping skills to help you take control of your life.
Understanding the Science of Chronic Pain
Our Pain Services & FAQs
-
Acute Pain is a Helpful Protector: When you experience an injury, pain signals warn your brain of danger. Once healed, the signal stops.
-
Chronic Pain is an Unhelpful Protector: When pain becomes chronic, the neural pathways connecting your body and brain become hypersensitive. Your brain continues to turn up the "volume" on pain signals even when there is no active injury to heal.
-
Your Brain Controls the Volume: Because pain is shaped by biological, psychological, and social factors, things like stress, anxiety, sleep issues, and negative thoughts will actively turn the pain volume up.
-
Comprehensive Offerings: We support your physical and emotional wellness through individual psychotherapy, personalized pain coaching, and structured skills and support groups.
-
Medical Collaboration: We work hand-in-hand with your medical or surgical team to support your physical treatment. We do not prescribe opiates, but can coordinate with psychiatric practitioners for other supportive medications.
-
Disability Evaluations: Please note that we are unable to evaluate or provide documentation for disability benefits.

Active Skills to Turn the Pain Volume Down
Through Pain Coping Therapy, you will master three core skill sets:
Relaxation Skills
Tap into your body's "rest and digest" system through deep belly breathing and mindfulness to calm your nervous system.
Thinking Skills
Learn to reframe pain from an overwhelming threat or loss into a manageable challenge, which lowers distress and improves your coping choices.
Doing Skills
Safely re-engage in activities and values that bring you joy, showing your brain that you are safe and helping you redefine what wellness means.
Specialty: Trauma-Focused Therapy & PTSD Recovery
The clinical definition of trauma is the emotional and psychological response to a deeply distressing or life-threatening event that overwhelms your ability to cope. While many will experience traumatic events in their lifetime, only a small percentage of individuals develop clinically significant post-traumatic stress symptoms (such as flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance, negative mood shifts, and hyper-reactivity).
When these symptoms persist for months, they rarely resolve on their own. However, not all therapies are safe or effective for PTSD; unstructured talk therapy alone can reinforce avoidance or even worsen distress. We offer structured, evidence-informed trauma treatments to help you heal safely.
Safe and Effective Trauma Treatments At Rezenity Health
CPT
Cognitive Processing Therapy
A highly structured, evidence-based trauma treatment designed specifically to target and treat the lasting impact of PTSD. CPT focuses heavily on helping you identify and evaluate unhelpful, distressing thoughts related to your trauma–often referred to as "stuck points"–and actively guides you in replacing them with more balanced, realistic perspectives.
KAP
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine increases your brain's neuroplasticity, allowing the mind to be more flexible and helping you break through deeply rooted, "stuck" symptoms of trauma. Grounded in crucial, structured preparation and integration (follow-up) sessions with a trained therapist, our KAP program yields an average 50% reduction in PTSD symptoms after just 4 dosing sessions.
EMDR & ART
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Accelerated Resolution Therapy
These interventions offer relief without the need to “retell” painful stories, and can be especially helpful for individuals who prefer less verbal approaches, or who have complex trauma. These treatments use rapid eye movements, bilateral stimulation, and voluntary image replacement to reprogram the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.
Group Therapy & Support Groups in Rochester, NY
Group therapy is a powerful, highly effective way to build community and accelerate healing. While individual therapy allows for introspective, one-on-one attention, group therapy offers a safe space to share raw feelings with peers who truly understand your struggles. It is exceptionally powerful for breaking the isolation that comes with chronic pain, complex health conditions, or caregiver stress.
Why Enroll in a Group?
-
Shared Experiences: Realize you are not alone, reducing the loneliness, shame, and stigma often surrounding pelvic health and pain issues.
-
Mutual Support & Accountability: Connect over shared values, encourage each other, and practice healthy boundary-setting.
-
New Perspectives: Gain fresh angles and coping insights by hearing how others navigate similar challenges.
-
Professional Guidance: Unlike peer-led online forums, our groups are led by a licensed therapist to ensure a structured, nonjudgmental, and physically/emotionally safe environment.
Participant Spotlight
"The group has been a safe place to discuss very personal issues with no judgment from others, only support. It’s comforting to have a group of women I can share my symptoms and worries with... It’s nice to know I’m not alone in my struggles." — Rezenity Group Participant
